Lawyers and human Rights!

The news yesterday about Iran Rights Lawyer, Nasrin Satoudeh, Sentenced to 38 Years in Prison and 148 Lashes was very disheartening.

It reminded me of a book I read by another Iranian Lawyer and Nobel Peace prize winner, Shirin Ebadi.⁣

She says, “Lawyers should not be charged with the same crimes as their clients. Trials related to political charges are not in accordance with human rights.” We hope that justice prevails.⁣

Also read this book to know more about the struggles of Iranian Human rights lawyers and how much courage and defiance they have in-spite of the oppression and the death threats.
