BTT: 5 for Favorites

1. Do you have a favorite author?
2. Have you read everything he or she has written?
3. Did you LIKE everything?

My favorite author is Sidney Sheldon. And yes, I have read every book written by him. But that does not mean I have liked all of them.
I love Nora Roberts and Mary Higgins Clark too. And no, I haven’t read everything by them. I have read many books written by Nora Roberts partly because she does write a lot of books. I have read about 7-8 books by Mary Higgins Clark.
Why do I love these authors? One reason is because their books were among the first books I read after Nancy Drews.

Once upon a time, when I did not have money to buy books and I was still studying, I did the only thing I could do. I joined a library. I am still a member of the same library but I don’t go there often. It stocks only popular authors. That’s the reason why my reading consisting of books by popular authors for many years.

When I started earning, I discovered the joy that is book stores. Today I read and enjoy many authors, some popular, some not so popular. I like Jodi Picoult, Torey Hayden, Anchee Min, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Alice Walker and many others. Lisa Kleypas and Tracy Higley are latest additions.

4. How about a least favorite author?
I am listing my least favorite author just because he is extremely popular and my liking or not liking him is not going to create a dent in his popularity.
Salman Rushdie: I tried reading a couple of his books, but I just couldn’t get into them.

5. An author you wanted to like, but didn’t?
Same as above. And also Stephen king. But I have read just one book of his, so I don’t really know if this is fair.

  1. I love Nora Roberts and Mary Higgins Clark books, too. I found it terribly hard to pick only one favorite author, but I chose Janet Evanovich. It’s been years since I read Sidney Sheldon, but I do enjoy his books as well.

  2. I could never pick just one author. There’s way too many on my auto-buy list and I’m always finding more. My latest new fave is David Field. He’s got a great romance trilogy and I’m into the final volume, The Fairest Star, now. The whole series was filled with with lots of humour, twists and turns and I’ll be sorry to see it end.
