BTT: Time is of the Essence and stuff…

I am a day late for BTT as I was not feeling well for the past 3 days. I took a leave of absence from work too. Today I am feeling much better and rejuvenated actually. And it’s even better that it’s Friday. My bikes tyre was punctured on my way to the office today morning. I had to push the vehicle to the repair shop for about 15 mins early morning. All is fine now, but it was a bad start. My hands are really aching now. For those who ask why, please try pushing a punctured heavy bike for 15 mins on a slope in the wrong direction. Okay, enough.

1. Do you get to read as much as you WANT to read? (I’m guessing #1 is an easy question for everyone?)

Yes and easy answer for me. NO. I don’t get enough time to read. But I think I need only an hour more everyday. Too much reading makes me feel isolated with the world. I reach home from work at 7.30-8, sometimes I reach by 10 in the night. That leaves very little time in hand. At present I read for half an hour in the morning and an hour at night before sleeping. At weekends I’ll be happy if I get any reading time at all. But I am still not married and no children, I wonder if I’ll get any reading done after I am married.

The problem is I like socializing a lot too; I cannot resist an impromptu call from a friend for a movie or lunch which always extends to dinner. Lately I have been extra busy at weekends, with so many of my female friends getting married, I have to (love to actually) accompany them to shopping and stuff. And we all know shopping can be so tiring.

But I have to read at least 5 pages everyday no matter how tired I am.

2. If you had (magically) more time to read–what would you read? Something educational? Classic? Comfort Reading? Escapism? Magazines?

ummm…no, I guess I’ll just read more of the same things. May be I’ll cram in some Reader’s digest or NatGeo magazines. But I think I’ll read more of the large books I have been wanting to.

On with something else. I am going to join Eva’s World Citizen Challenge because I really liked the format and the flexibility.

For those who haven’t read about it yet, go here.

  1. I don’t get much chance to read after work on weekdays…that’s why I treasure my reading time spent while travelling to and from work. It takes me about an hour to get to office so I could read a lot during the journey… Weekends are just out of the question since I’ve two young daughters to pay attention to! But then, life is all about balance, eh?

  2. I wish i could read while travelling, I used to when i travelled by company transport, but since I started going by my vehicle, that has stopped and i realized what a cut down in reading time it has been.
