I went home last weekend for 2 days. Yes, travelled all the way for 15 hours only for 2 days. But the journey was good considering J was accompanying me just because I didn’t want to go alone. We came by flight while coming back. The main reason of the visit was one of my closest friends wedding. He was in Kuwait for the past year or more and I had not seen him since. Moreover all my friends had come too. What better way to meet people when most of them are too busy getting on with their lives.
So many of my friends are married or are getting married and most of them are guys. I don’t know what’s up with guys now a days. The moment they have a secure job, they want to get married whereas girls like to wait.
But that’s beside the point. So I was saying I went home. Had mom’s food for 2 days and it was heavenly. You don’t realize how good your mom’s food tastes unless you start cooking yourself.
Now I am back and I don’t feel as if I have been home at all.
Lesson learnt: go home for at least 1 week or don’t go at all. It’s for my own good.
—–Edit—-
I forgot to mention that J came home as we were to leave for the airport together. So I thought I might as well invite him for lunch so that he can meet my family (well being Monday only my mom and my younger sis were home). Of course my mom didn’t know we are going around. She liked him as a friend and generally praised him a lot which was awesome. Now I am sure I’ll cross the bridge when I have to
Yup, that’s always a hard one. Especially when you’re just settling in to new place.
Still I’m sure the family were delighted to see you.
Couldn’t agree more about Mum’s cooking… there’s always something about the taste of home!
