Happy New Year!!!

To begin with, A very happy New Year to all of you, hope you had fun and celebrated it the way you wanted to. My parents and my sister left on Saturday and we had so much fun. We visited a lot of places in Singapore and also Malaysia and Thailand. I will be posting the pictures in wordless Wednesday posts.

I had fun reading all the ‘best-of’ posts but I still don’t feel like writing one. I forgot to make a separate list of books I read in 2010 and so I don’t really have the statistics unless I count the number of book reviews I posted manually and frankly that’s too much work for me. I don’t really care about the number of books I read.

But looking back on my reading I did read a lot more Young Adult in 2010 since my library has a good collection and discovered some great books along the way. I also read a few memorable memoirs which are always there in my reading list. This year I will concentrate on reading books for the challenges I joined since I have been wanting to read more books based in Asia. I have a few books in mind and I cannot wait.

As far as my goals for my blog go, I don’t have anything specific in mind other than to improve it along the way and I don’t have any rules for that. I’m more impulsive that way. What I did do was start a new challenge: East and SouthEast Asia Challenge but it wasn’t really planned, it just happened and I’m glad that people are interested in joining in too. Speaking of which, you can join the challenge any time you want. The aim is to make readers more aware of books based in these regions, so even if you haven’t joined the Challenge feel free to link you reviews in the review section.

On a personal level, I plan to exercise and keep healthy which is easier said than done. But since my husband is keen on exercising, I’m sure he’ll drag me along with him. I also got a Yoga CD from back home, so I hope I atleast give it a try soon.

And I’ve saved the best for the last….I. Got. A. Job.………yay. It’s been a few months since I’ve been trying but there were very few requirements. But I’ve finally got one and I’ll be joining in Feb. Cannot wait. Looks like 2011 has started with a good note for me. I’m not sure what my blogging status will be then, but hopefully I’ll be able to manage. Whats up with you all? Since I’m marking ‘all as read’ in the Google Reader, is there anything I should know?

  1. HI Violet,

It’s good to have you back and Happy New Year to you both.

Glad you had a good break, sounds like you fitted loads into the time, looking forward to the pics.

I never really bother with resolutions, because they all seem to go by the wayside within the first few days, but the best of luck keeping to all yours.

Fantastic news about the job, what will you be doing? I really need to get myself fixed up with some work this year, but there is just nothing about, it’s so depressing. Volunteering full time is really enjoyable and fulfilling, but it doesn’t pay the bills.

I have made a start on my one and only challenge this year:

It’s only 6 books, but lets see how long it takes me to get around to finishing it!!!

  3. Happy New Year, Violet! ๐Ÿ˜€ I was wondering where you’d been. Your blog had been quite quiet lately.

Congratulations on the job! I really do hope 2011 turns out to be a fantastic year for you.
