Updates…from Singapore…

Hi everybody, how are you all. I just thought I would post an in general update before resuming with regular blogging.

We reached Singapore on 8th Dec after a lovely week in Goa.

  • We spend the next week setting up house, buying grocery and house hold stuff. My husband (I had wanted to say this for so long πŸ™‚ ) went to work on Monday and I spend time cleaning up the house.
  • It’s weird sitting at home doing nothing, I’m going to resume my job hunt asap.
  • Singapore is a cool place, very systematic and organized, I feel it even more aswe flew directly from the chaotic Mumbai.
  • We visited the Night Safari here and it was beautiful and like everything else very organized.
  • I love the weather here, it’s warm, just the way I like it.
  • And you know what? I got my Library card from a regional library here and I’m so excited. It’s on my husband’s name as I don’t have my permanent visa yet. There are not many English books but I still love it. It would take me some time before I’m going to be tired of it. I got these, they were all in my wishlist :

  • I really like the way Singaporean women dress, they are chic and stylish without being over the top. Not many people wear Jeans here though, so I guess I’ll have to slowly change my wardrobe. It kind of makes sense since it’s hot here.
  • Singapore is expensive and I really have to stop converting dollars to rupees everytime we shop.
  • We saw 2 movies since we are here:

New Moon: Boring, I mean really:Β  we couldn’t wait for it to get over. I kept telling my husband there is some really nice climax to the story but everything was kind of meh. Jacob was good though and so was the forks background.

RocketSingh-Salesman of the year: Really good concept and a good movie overall. We really liked it.

I am sure u will like reading Speak (not using the word enjoy because it is a heavy book ) . I even liked Forests Of Hands And Teeth though I am not a zombie book fan:)

    1. Because…then I don’t have to wear layers and layers of clothing and I can walk in the house without wearing socks, I can go out for dinner at the riverside and enjoy it without shivering. Many other similar reasons or it could simply be that I don’t enjoy cold anymore. There was a time when I used to love it, I don’t know what happened:)

Don’t hunt jobs too hard – sleep! It’s the fun pass time that never gets old.

  3. Hi Violet, love the photos… you sound as though you are settling in nicely. Just thought I’d mention that if there were ever any books you really wanted and couldn’t get I could always get them for you in England and forward in… I’m sure you have other ways of getting books but I don’t want you to be without! ;o)
Good luck on the job hunting!
I found New Moon to be a long film… thought the book was ok though. I’m halfway through the fourth book now, Breaking Dawn… it’s ok. ;o)
    Take care and congratulations! (again!)

  4. Ohh, warmth! It is finally getting to be cold winter here, so I am very jealous of the Singapore weather. :p Interested in what you have to think about The Forest of Hands and Teeth.

  5. Welcome to Singapore, Violet! πŸ˜€
As for the library books, the popular books usually got loaned out pretty quickly. Have you visited the Kinokuniya bookstore in Ngee Ann City at Orchard Road? They have a wide variety there!

I love jeans! You’ll find me wearing that on Friday at work and outdoors. πŸ˜›

      1. Yes, I’ve heard of the bookfair too! I’d love to go but I don’t think I’d be able to browse with my two children around, LOL!

        Happy shopping! πŸ™‚
