What’s the biggest book you’ve read recently?
(Feel free to think “big” as size, or as popularity, or in any other way you care to interpret.)
Definitely The Handmaid’s tale by Margaret Atwood. I even wrote a review. This book had been on my wish list for a long time and I finally got to read it. I was expecting a 5 star read and even though I liked it, it got only a 3.5 from me. But yes, I will definitely read another book by Atwood because I loved the writing.
Also, Carrie by Stephen King. Not only in terms of the book, but in terms of the author too. It was the first Stephen King book I read (not counting the Eyes of the Dragon) and I loved it. Definitely looking forward to reading more by him.
What about you?

Ok, both of these books sort of freak me out. I will never read King because of that story specifically. :O) Atwood I need to read.

Don’t you tend to find the bigger tomes a bit intimidating, especially if your reading pile is especially big?

I have the Handmaid’s tale on my wishlist! I have never read anything by Stephen King, that is perhaps because I think it might be to scary for me 😉
Here’s my recent biggest read.

Haha – same answer for me as it is for all these questions – War & Peace. Big book in every sense!
I re-read the last Harry Potter too, that’s quite big in a few ways, too!

I loved The Handmaid’s Tale. If you’re still interested in Atwood, I recommend Alias Grace or The Blind Assassin which moves away from the fantasy-ish/sci-fi genre she at times falls into. Unless of course you like fantasy and sci-fi. 🙂

I’ve read The Handmaid’s Tale and The Blind Assassin and loved them both. The Handmaid’s Tale is a great “big” book selection.
I haven’t read Carrie, but have read quite a few Stephen King books in the past. “It” still freaks me out when I think about it, “Needful Things” was brilliant and “Pet Cemetary” was just creepy.
Great BTT picks.

Stephen King is on my BTT list as well. He is incomparable as far as the horror genre goes, IMO.

I really need to read a book of Stephen Kings. I’m usually not attracted to those types of books but now that I have joined R.I.P I am learning to like them.

Nice choices! I teach “The Handmaid’s Tale” in my women’s lit class. I hear we’ll get a new Atwood book this fall. Yay!

I really liked “The Handmaid’s Tale,” but I read it many years ago. I’ve always meant to read more Atwood, but never have gotten around to it. Same thing with Stephen King – I’ve only read “The Shining,” but really would like to give him another try some day.
