What’s the lightest, most “fluff” kind of book you’ve read recently?
Hmmm…that actually depends on what fluff means to you. I count chick-lit, romance in the fluff category, but that doesn’t mean that they are not awesome or intellectual reads.
Let me see.
I’ve read The Grand Finale and The Family Man by Jayne Ann Krentz recently and I still haven’t reviewed them here. So here’s the short of it without the plots, just a general idea of what I thought of the books.
The Grand Finale by Janet Evanovich: I had heard so much about Janet Evanovich and about how funny her books are. So I grabbed this book when I saw it in the library. I liked the book but not as much as I expected to. And although I smiled a few times I did not find it that funny. Weird considering how much my sister liked the sense of humor in this book. The good part was that it was a quick, light read. I read it in a single sitting which is very rare these days. Sadly I did not connect with any of the characters and the plot was kind of common too.
The Family Man by Jayne Ann Krentz: I picked this book when I found that nothing held my interest. I was going through what we call the reader’s block. This book helped me get out of it. The plot was normal, nothing new in it but I really liked how the heroine was portrayed in this book. She was working and she was good at what she did. She was also very ambitious and was planning to open am eating joint of her own. The romance was normal but I liked the family dynamics in it.
I agree, I usually consider chick-lit and romance fluff, but some of them really can be interesting enough to not be considered stereotypical chick-lit fluff.
I feel like I’m the only one to not have read anything by Janet Evanovich lol
My BTT answer is here 🙂

I agree with you! It’s a shame that chick-lit often gets regarded as fluff as some of it is excellent! Happy BTT!

Haha it’s terrible…I tend to define fluff as…bad. I know that’s not really the case and i should get out of that habit…

I have to agree that Janet Evanovich is a light fluffy read. I think it’s because her books are just so absurd. I haven’t read the other book yet. Happy BTT

I agree!! it was for me too to decide my fluff book.
Those 2 books sounds interesting.
I also had a reader’s block lately but I cured it by re-reading my most favorite manga, but for me that manga is not a fluff

I read the first 9 of Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series and have no more interest in ever reading more. But that’s more likely due to my huge tbr that I’ve built up since blogging. I kind of miss those days when I had no idea what I would read next. Now it’s like a scheduling nightmare!

I’ve not read either of those authors, but Evanovich is on my tbr list. Here’s my BTT response.

I define fluff as something really lighthearted and doesn’t take too much brain power to read. Something fairly predictable. 🙂

Hi Violet, The Family Man sounds good. Even normal, ordinary stories can be good. I’m glad you liked that one. 😀

The occasional light read is good, just to chill. I nearly always have one on the go.

Not sure I can cope with ‘fluff’ really… Although when I don’t want anything too heavy, I just go for kids literature. I’ve been re-reading the Narnia Chronicles this Summer. Wonderful! It would be rather harsh to call them ‘fluff’ though!

Glad you enjoyed the fluff 🙂

Well, I haven’t read anything but Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, which I totally love because it is fluff. You know what you’re getting and it usually includes a good deal of fun.
