Book Fair Loot :)

I and my sis were on our way to shopping on Saturday evening. When we were waiting for the Traffic light to turn green we noticed a small board on the opposite side of the road that said “Book fair”. We decided to check it out. We entered a small alley and we could see a couple of tables stacked with books. Honestly I was disappointed. I thought this is all there is. And anyways there are next to none books fairs in my city, so it wasn’t like I was very hopeful.

But as we went close we noticed that the shop was actually shaped in such a way that more than half of it was not visible from the main road. Needless to say we had a great time. I had never seen so many cheap books in my life. Okay, maybe a couple of times in Bangalore but not here.

This is my book fair loot. Half of the books in this stack are for Rs. 25 (that’s half a U.S $) and half of them are for 1$.

I’ve heard a lot about V.C Andrews but never actually read her books. So when I saw a stack of them I picked up 3 randomly. I wanted to pick all but I was a little hesitant as I hadn’t read any of her books before.

All three of these are series books so I might go back and pick up all of them after all. Lets see.

I am really excited about Waiting to Exhale by Terry McMillan. This book was on my wish list for a long time. I had searched in all the bookstores here but didn’t find it, and for it to turn up in a book sale at dirt cheap price was a little surprising.

Another couple of books I’m excited about are

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell and

Wolf by the ears by Rinaldi.

Island of the Blue Dolphins is a children’s book but it’s a Newbery winner, so it might be good. Wolf by the year is a young adult novel which was “An ALA Best Book for young adults“.

I was really attracted by this books cover and title, “The Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love” by Jill Conner Browne. I have no idea what the book is about other than it’s about ‘The sweet potato Queens’ from Jackson, Mississippi. There’s even a website dedicated to them.

P.S: Oh did I tell you we went to a nice Lebanese restaurant after that and had some yummy Lebanese food. Then we went to Venus Traders, one of the largest stationary chains here and bought some frivolous, unnecessary and expensive stuff like Paper Quilling kit, some shiny pouches, water colors and the like.
