Books read 2008

Okay, time when you list down all that you have read for the year. Last year I did not remember all the books I read, but just wrote a post from all the books I remembered and liked. This year, even though I started keeping track from June, I kind of remember most of the books I read because I went to Bangalore in March and I remember all the books I took with me and all the books I brought back with me. My count this year is 47. In fact, this is the first year I have ever counted how many books I read. Though 47 is not much I am satisfied with my reading. Next year, I’ll try to up the count to 50. Otherwise I am pretty happy.

Here are the books in no particular order. The ones with the reviews have hyperlinks. The books not reviewed are mostly books I read before July. But not necessarily. After the list, I have mentioned some of the books I have really liked.

The miracle girls: A lovely YA novel

Centaur in the city by Norman Dubeski

Immortals: The crossing by Joy Nash A Paranormal romance.

Courage of fear: by Barbara Boyer An inspirational book.

Line of scrimmage by Marie Force A romance book, one of the best romantic books I read this year.

Sybil by Flora Rheta Schreiber

World famous serial killers

Calypso’s enchantment: A silhouette or a Mills and boon. I liked this one.

Empress Orchid by Anchee Min: The story of the transformation of a rural girl into the last empress of China.

Fiscal Pear and shimmer and the call of the river whale by Olivia Brooks. A children’s book filled with adventure.

Abandoned by Anya Peters: This book describes a woman’s journey as a child who was sexually abused, who as a woman drifted along without any sense of purpose and finally had to resort to living in her car with no means of livelihood. It’s a great in site into what thousands of homeless people who live in cars go through. They are what a new generation of homeless people in the U.S.

Legends of Pensam by Mamang Dai

The hollow skull by Christopher Pike: If you overlook the language and the other stuff that makes a book great, this one was fun. I picked it up expecting a nice, easy to read thriller. And it was just that. I was on the edge of my seat all the time. So i guess purpose fulfilled.

On the verge by Ariella Papa. It’s a chicklit, yeah, but that doesn’t mean you have to describe your endless dinners and pub hopping in excruciating details. Boring. I guess the concept was good, but the book was too long for it.
