CATOPLUS TERROR

I have always been a big Sidney Sheldon fan. I love his books; I love his fast paced writing style. I can finish any book of his in 3-4 hours flat, without a break. I actually visited his Official site and noted down all the books I haven’t read, and I made it apoint to finish them all. I didn’t want to miss a single one. I am not saying I liked all his books; there are a couple I absolutely hated. The worst being his Autobiography ‘The other side of me’. I felt so bad when he died. The first thought was,’ Oh, no more of his books now’. I know that is not a very good thought, but anyways.

I have friends who absolutely dislike him. They run away even at the slighest mention of him. (Is this even a sentence? Whatever)
Well, I found a Sidney sheldon book in a small second hand book store.

CATOPLUS TERROR

Has anyone ever heard of it?
I searched on his site for the info today, but it is not listed there. It isn’t listed on Wikipedia too. There isn’t much information on the net either. Some people say he is very embarrased by them so he doesn’t reveal they are written by him. Some say they are written by someone else and published with his name. I dont know.

They? Well there is one more.

PAVID PAVILLION.

Okay i have this one and trust me if it is written by him, it is one of his worst. And i do think he has written it or someone has managed to copy his exact style of writing and character sketching. Though it does not have a story.

I am waiting to read Catoplus Terror and find out if it is indeed written by him. I think i know his writing style well enough. Or maybe someone is a really good copy cat.

    I must check some out!

    Sounds like you might have got hold of a couple of fakes… someone else putting his name on their books to sell a few copies before they get withdrawn by his estate…
    I don’t know though, maybe they are early works which he didn’t acknowledge but got published after his death, or something?

    1. Hey i have always been a great sheldon fan … and the other day when i was going thru my dads’ collection .. i found this catoplus terror …. but it has not been listed as one of his books … :P… till where have i read (as it is a on gng book for me) …. its been good so far 😀

    2. I read the book around twenty years ago. A 160 page racy novel in Sidney Sheldon style. Even he came to know about the novel when he visited India. It was in paper back style, with poor printing.

  2. CM: I don’t think they are published after his death. The Terror book is published in 1983. I think he doesn’t want to acknowledge them. I think I will write to the publisher and ask. I am too curious 🙂

  7. Oh my God CM, dont tell me you haven’t even heard of him?
    Well,okay, sorry,he writes thrillers mainly, and trust me his plots have so many twist and turns, you will be dying to know what happens next. His central characters are generally woman who can do anything to reach to the top or to get their own way.

    Read Doomsday conspiracy, Memories of midnight, i think they are the best.

  9. Oh well okay, it is just that i dont understand how people can not like him or have not even heard about him, but i dont like Agatha Cristie either, so i guess that even it out 🙂

    S Sheldon is someone I haven’t read yet – maybe I’ll take a look at some of his work if you’re recommending it.. hard to find truly gifted writers these days, so much is just junk..

    As for the story of Ganju 🙂 I was reading up some on India, we been having floods over here also, and the whole Monsoon thing over your way, while obviously deadly, strikes a romantic cord in me somewhere 🙂 or maybe it’s just a curiosity for another country and the want to explore the exotic to me.

    The whole Ganju legend is wonderfull 🙂 the holy men with the long hair now all make perfect sense to me 🙂 for a long time I had wondered about “why grow the long hair” now that makes perfect sense for a deeply religous person to do such a thing in devotion to their Deity 🙂

    They even make pilgrimages to the 4 main sources of the Mighty River too don’t they? 🙂

    Such a loverly Legend/story 🙂

    Please don’t bother reading CT. I don’t think it’s by him. I left it half way.
    I can complete even the trashiest novel by Sidney Sheldon.

    i hv read da book…pavid pavillion!!
    well it was da worst book of ma life…a total crap n shit!!!
    after every few pages dere were explicit writings abt people hving sex…threesome…sometimes even four involved….it was pathetic!!!!

    there was no story…it was plot around a lady novel writer who writes a book abt a famous cosmetic giant…his personal life..but in name of others…

    many characters were involved…frequently having sex wid each other…in the last almost everyone dies…very few remain!!!!

    the writing style was similar to sidney sheldon…i mean almost da same if the writer is not him….how can one cpy so much similar!!!!

    well i m a SS fsn…so plzz lemme kno if he has actually written this book or not!!!!

  21. Exactly my point Chandhni. Some say he is ashamed of those books, thats the reason why they ar never mentioned. Not on wikipedia or on his official site.

    But yeah, who knows. Even I feel and hope,as a Sidney Sheldon fan, they were not written by him.

    I saw this post and I’m just reading Catoplus Terror. I was as surprised as you to find this book because I had thought I had read everything by SS years ago.

    But unfortunately, I’ve got an edition with 8 pages missing. Will you tell me what happens from pages 165 to 172? Around the time Mack and his team come back from Mexico after the party at Schwarz’s place..

    Do you have it scanned or something, so you can send across to me in an e-mail? I mean entire Harry Potter books are sometimes read by people online because someone’s made a soft copy of it.

    I hate reading incomplete books and that’s precisely why I looked it up and came across your post. So, please help me.

    I could not read the entire book. I left it half way so I really cannot tell you what happenned in the pages you mentioned. I would have looked it up but then I dont have the book with me now. Its in Pune, my hometown. If you want i can photocopy the pages you want and courier them to you, but that might take time. After 20th July, when i come back from my home visit.

    Do let me know if you would wait for that long and mail me your address in case you would.

  34. He’s amazing. He may not have a beautiful mysterious language which can describe things in detail but he’s one of the few people who can write unputdownable books. He knows how to wind up things and cut the crap. There’s not a single Sheldon book I haven’t read. I hated Master Of The Game and A Stranger in The Mirror, and my favourite is If Tomorrow Comes. It’s sad that he achieved success in writing only after he turned 50 which left him less days to write more.

    Talking about Sheldon, another novelist who can write fast paced novels is Erica Spindler. I absolutely loved her book Shocking Pink.

  37. I’ve actually read the book ‘CATOPLUS TERROR’ and am very sure that the book was NOT written by Sidney.. I’ve read all his books and by reading just the first page of this book I could very well recognise that the book was wriiten by someone else…Anywyas i wanted to give it a try and it turned out to be the worst book..So its not necessary to bother about this book…
